Memory

THINK DIFFERENTLY.
LIVE EXTRAORDINARILY

Have you noticed that you’re using it the wrong way?

When you wake up, your mind is instantly ON, and it starts feeding you thoughts – hundreds of them, one after the other. Like a noisy room mate that won’t shut up.

The thing is that this room mate mainly talks about the past – ‘Remember yesterday? Remember you were stressed about this thing? Remember how worried you felt about that other thing? You know in the past your experience has been that you’re not really like those effortlessly wealthy people. You don’t have the same privileges, the time, the connections. It’s definitely harder for you’

And on and on it goes.

And because we think in pictures, without realising it, you’re instantly imagining the past, yesterday, last week, last year, a decade ago, your childhood, past trauma, past stress.

You’re living in the past.

You’re using your memory the WRONG way.

The purpose of memory is to file things that might be useful at a later point. Learnings to take advantage of.

But we’ve been using it the wrong way. Using it to imagine – and therefore create – more of the same.

Your imagination is a separate mental faculty. Don’t tie it together with that noisy and annoying room mate.

Separate them.

Use your memory as a filing cabinet of useful information to refer back to ONLY when needed.

Use your IMAGINATION to focus on what you WANT.

And get that annoying room mate to find alternative accommodation – somewhere with a volume switch so it only gets to speak when you go to find information that is useful.

And that information doesn’t need to be sprayed upon you like red mist every second of the day.

Imagination is the King.

Memory is merely an assistant.

Know your place #noisyroommate

Amen. ✨
